Chicago Soydairy’s Teese Vegan Cheese Challenge = Teesey Grits!

Featured on Chicago Soydairy’s site, Go Vegan Go!, the Teese Vegan Cheese Challenge was offered up to veggie food bloggers to create and share a recipe using Teese and blog about it. We were excited to participate and even more excited when a box of Teese showed up on our doorstep. The result was “Teesey Grits,” a quick and easy breakfast favorite. Be sure to watch the accompanying video (at the bottom of this post) displaying another stellar performance by our friend Rich Salamander as the Paul-Ex delivery man.

Teesey Grits

This recipe will serve 3-4.

1 cup organic grits/polenta/corn meal (all work, just different coarseness)
3 cups water (use a little less if you like your grits thick)
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 cup cheddar style Teese (shredded)

In a medium pot bring water & salt to a boil and whisk in grits. Reduce heat to low and cover for 10 minutes (unless instructed differently on package), stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and whisk Teese into the cooked grits. Salt & pepper to taste, serve immediately and enjoy with a little hot sauce.

Grits can stand alone as a warm breakfast cereal or be a delicious part of a larger meal. Try serving next to cooked collard greens or kale and some black beans. Mmmmmm!

What is Teese?
It’s a melting 100% dairy-free gluten-free soy cheese, available at our favorite Green Grocer as well as Whole Foods & Co-ops across the US. It really does melt and comes in cheddar & mozzarella flavors as well as nacho & cheddar dipping style. Packaged similar to breakfast sausage. Perfect for stifling a cheese craving.
