Chicago Diner Chocolate Shake Brunch

Just got back from a belly-busting and satisfying brunch at Chicago Diner. We don’t usually start off with a chocolate shake made from Temptation frozen dessert for an appetizer, but that’s what days off are for, right? The shake went perfectly with coffee and the comfortable outdoor atmosphere created by the Diner’s new canopy. The breezy patio was shaded with a warm yellow glow.

Their new Spring-Summer 2010 menu looked awesome with some new items and old favs. For our entrées we chose the Monte Cristo and Country Fried “Steak.” Both were great and we were especially impressed by the steak.

What a fun morning to take a new look at a place we have been loving since our first visit in 2001. The Diner definitely set the pace for yummy vegan meals throughout this holiday weekend.

    Bon apetite! I wish I could taste vegan food in a restaurant… I am writing this mail from Istanbul, where being a vegan is like being from a planet of apes ! :)

    Now that I have taken all meat except for seafood out of my diet, it seems that I may need to sample the menu at Chicago Diner. This spot comes highly recommended every time I ask for suggestions for vegetarian and vegan restaurants.
